THE ADVENTURES OF ALVIN SPUTNIK: DEEP SEA EXPLORER

Created By Tim Watts

Presented by The Last Great Hunt

29 & 30 July at 12pm & 8pm

The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer is a tiny tale set in the deepest dark blue sea, of a solitary explorer with a heart as big as a whale. Direct from sellout seasons in New York, Sydney, and Auckland this multi award-winning piece of heartwarming theatrical magic is a one-man micro-epic about enduring love and the end of the world. “…akin to a theatrical Wall-E” (New York Times).

In a highly imaginative fusion of animation, puppetry, projections, live and recorded music, master storyteller St John Cowcher tells the tale of Alvin Sputnik, deep sea explorer, and the search for his lost love in the seemingly endless depths of the ocean.

Using a constantly creative, beguiling and quirky blend of live action, puppetry, animation, music and film, The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer weaves a story of love, loss and quiet heroism with engaging energy and an enchanting magic. Young and old – both adults and children – will delight in this wonderfully romantic hour of pure abandonment.

We can’t recommend this highly enough… bring your friends, bring your family; they will owe you big time! Having charmed audiences worldwide, and received countless five star reviews, The Joan is delighted to be able to present this gorgeous production, The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer on 29 and 30 July at 12 noon and 8pm.  Tickets are $35 Standard and $30 Concession.

Friday Night Lights, The Joan’s regular pop-up pre-show music lounge, will be in operation from 5pm on 29 July. Entry is free, talented local musician Bonnie Stewart aka Bonniesongs will be performing, and the bar will be open for food and drinks.
