Opening of Australian and Turkish Art and Sculpture Exhibition – 2015 Gallipoli Centenary
The Battle of Lone Pine 100th anniversary was commemorated on Thursday 6th August at The Gallipoli Club in Sydney with an unveiling of 10 bronze busts sculptures of the Australian and New Zealand Victoria Cross winners from the Gallipoli campaign.
The NSW Governor, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley and Mrs Hurley, and relatives of the VC winners unveiled the 10 busts. The busts, commissioned by the Gallipoli Memorial Club, and created by Sculpture Artist Kris-Ann Ehrich, are now on display alongside winning artwork from the Gallipoli Art Prize from Australia and Turkey, from the past ten years.
The Gallipoli Memorial Club has announced they will continue their annual $20 000 Gallipoli Art Prize due to the popularity and the support from many of the artists. Further participation in the Turkish Art Prize will be in collaboration with the Turkish Australian & New Zealand Friendship and Promotion Association, Ankara.
The exhibition will be on public display at The Gallipoli Memorial Club in Sydney from the 7th of August, Wednesday to Friday from 11.30am to 5pm until the 30th of August at 12-14 Loftus Street, Circular Quay, Sydney. For more details visit www.gallipoli.com.au
